About the artwork
This painting forms part of a series of works representing reflections of reality, as reflected in water. Fluidity, transparency and volume has been translated into paint to feel unsettlingly ‘real’.
Exhibited during the Karooscapes exhibition at Open Window Art Gallery (Pretoria) in 2000, the artwork, amongst others, represented the ways in which the artist had been influenced by the landscape whilst residing in the Karoo, dealing with her experience and relationship with the emotional spaces of this place of affect (Kriel 2000).
